Vogue covers will be lining the newspaper stands in Japan debuting Lady Gaga in a meat bikini. I was in horror when I heard the news, but after I thought it out a while it made sense. Especially on the Vogue cover.
Vogue's known for its couture fashion articles and interviews with quite glamorous stars. It’s also known for using a ton of fur (especially American Vogue because you know how much Anna Wintour loves the animals). I don't get why they still use that horrid piece of clothing because fur looks so dated and disgusting. It has never occurred to me that fur is glamorous and luxurious, ever since the start if freaked me out to even feel a fur coat which once belonged to a precious animal. Also, fur is defiantely not worth the thousands of dollars you pay for it. Unless you want to contribute to thousands of animals getting skinned alive and killed in awful ways, or just left to bleed to death. It must be such a nice feeling to put on your $12,000 coat just for status knowing that multiple animals suffered greatly for it. Yeah I’m talking to you, Rachel Zoe. Gross.
On another note, if you think about it, wearing meat is just as gross as wearing leather or fur. Animals were killed, tortured, and depressed in the process for those, too. So why do we react so badly to this?
I think my reaction was negative because she not only used murdered animal flesh for the cover of vogue, but also as an outfit at the VMA’S. The outfit screamed attention whore. I also found it extremely disrespectful that she wore it on the Ellen Show since Ellen DeGeneres is a vegan. Ellen , of course, asked Gaga for her explanation of wearing this disgusting gown and it was,” If we don't stand up for what we believe in and if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And I am not a piece of meat!” She also said something along the lines of,” I totally respect vegans and vegetarians. I don’t judge.” You might not judge but you certainly offend.
She also did this for gay rights (which I'm for) but I don’t get how yeah you’re for gay rights but you’re going to advertise it in a murdered creature’s flesh that had no rights whatsoever? How about rights for all living beings, Lady Gaga? This gal obviously didn’t think this stunt through.
I hope somehow this brings attention to the cause of animal rights.
