Happy Mother's Day

Mother's day is this Sunday! What will you be doing to celebrate your mother(or yourself)?Though you should appreciate your mother everyday, mother's day is a fabulous holiday to be appreciative towards your mother. They do a lot. I know my mother does.

Mother's Day isn't just a day to celebrate your mother, but all mothers. Human and non human. That's why, in honor of Mother's Day, I want you to drop any food with an animal ingredient. Really think about where your milk or eggs come from in honor of the animal mothers that produced them.

By consuming animal products you are contributing to the misery of a mother cow who just lost her baby right after she'd given birth to it. A mother cow will be slaughtered because of your "need" for her milk. A hen will be cramped in a cage just a little bigger than her with multiple other hens because of your "need" her eggs. A hen's male chicks will be grinded alive because of your "need" for her eggs. A male calf, new to life, will be in a tiny crate tied down and about to be sent to slaughter for veal because of your dairy eating habits. Sounds like a pretty pure and sweet Mother's Day, huh? Yeah right.

My non vegan readers, I don't mean to be super harsh but, this is reality, and if you want to stop being attached to this disgusting industry that causes so much pain and misery to our fellow Mothers, you can. Celebrating your way to life by eating death is so ironic.

In honor of Mother's Day go vegan! You won't just save a few animals; but about a 100 animals a year. What a wonderful gift for all Mothers!

May Playlist

I'm two days late. I could have sworn yesterday was the 30th so I figured I'd do my playlist today and be on time. I've learned something in my 14 years of life: time is never on my side.

I'll stop babbling away and start getting to business. I have been listening to a lot of Hunx and His Punx, Dum Dum Girls, PJ Harvey, and some other goodness. As a result a lot of those bands will be on my playlist!

1) Hunx and His Punx- Too Young to be in Love
Hunx and Punx. I'm in love with this band right now. The songs are hilarious and incredibly fun.

2)PJ Harvey-The Words That Maketh Murder

Did anyone catch her on the Coachella live Youtube thing? She has such an amazing presence...Even through a computer screen! Her voice is magical. Radiohead and PJ Harvey is the music my mother raised me with.

3) Dum Dum Girls- Blank Girl

Dee Dee and her husband, band member of Crocodiles, sing this together. My husband better do stuff like this with me.

4) The Strokes- Machu Picchu

Julian Casablancas. His voice. Can it get anymore beautiful? Its so powerful. Anyways, this song is amazing, they totally kill it.

5) Vivian Girls- Sixteen Ways

This song is so Vivian Girls.

6) Andy Gibb- Love is Thicker Than Water

So sweet. It's not fair that he died so young. My mom and I's song.

7) The Radio Department- Heaven's on Fire
If I was making an enormous soundtrack to my life this song would be on it. It describes my mood half the time.

8) Hunx and His Punx- Lover's Lane

This song is perfection. Gotta love it.

9) Jenny and Johnny-Scissor Runner

I've heard them before and haven't paid much attention to em'. I know Jenny is in Rilo Kiley. I see that they're going on tour with La Sera so I though they'd be totally worth giving a listen to. Cute!

10) Sleater Kinney- Jumpers

The lyrics to "Jumpers" are so real. It totally tells a story.

Keeping you posted!

I know, I haven't written on my blog in quite awhile. Well, that's not entirely true. I have been working on some posts but I have not published them yet. I have had so many ideas for new posts, it's just a matter of getting them all down in thorough explanations. I don't want to post some political nonsense that doesn't even make sense.

So it's been about a month since my newest post which was a playlist. I feel really lazy. April has been crazy. I was just in New York for almost a week, had a lot of school stuff, and not a lot of time to sit down and dedicate an hour and a half to blogging. Like I said, I have a lot of ideas for new posts! I have two in the works, currently, but one is going to need more research and details to it. I will try and get one of the posts in the works published tomorrow night. Summer is right around the corner meaning that I will be posting a lot more than I am now! Please be patient with me guys!
